
Natalya Weinstein is an accomplished violinist and teacher in a variety of styles, from classical to bluegrass. She currently resides in Asheville and performs with a number of regionally touring bands, including Polecat Creek and Red June. Natalya has played at prestigious festivals across the country, including Grey Fox and Merlefest. She is a champion fiddler, winning contests in both the North and the South. Natalya is also in demand as a session musician and has recorded on many albums, including projects at Echo Mountain, Hollow Reed Studio, and Upstream Productions here in the Asheville area.
Her musical upbringing began at age 5 and consisted of many years of Suzuki violin and classical music training. She grew up in a musical household, and her grandfather was a full-time Klezmer musician. During college Natalya began branching out to different styles of music including jazz, country, old-time and bluegrass. Upon her arrival in Asheville in 2004, she began focusing primarily on fiddle styles of the Southern Appalachians.
